Claim timeline builder
Keep a dated log of your claim, see which statutory deadlines each event triggered, and print a polite status-request letter for your carrier.
Why a claim diary is the most valuable document you’ll keep
Every deadline in Chapter 542 is triggered by an event: written notice, a request for information, the day the insurer receives the last item it asked for, a notice of acceptance. If the dates of those events aren’t written down, the deadlines can’t be proved — and the statutory interest that depends on them can’t be calculated.
This builder keeps a dated log and reads it the way the statute does. Log the day you reported the claim and it shows the §542.055 acknowledgment deadline. Log the day you sent the documents the adjuster requested and it shows the §542.056 decision date and the §542.058 60-day payment date. Log payments and it flags which arrived after a deadline.
What to record
- Every written request from the insurer — what was asked for and the date you received the request.
- Every response — what you sent, how (email, portal, certified mail) and the date it was received.
- Inspections, re-inspections and engineer or contractor visits.
- Every acceptance, partial denial and payment, with amounts.
- Supplements and the documents supporting them.
Keep copies. When you are ready, send the log to Enforce Interest with your documents for a free review.
